Hello, I am a young woman in my early 30s and even though 7 years have expired since I holidayed at Goa, the memories are as fresh as a newly washed cucumber. My husband was cool enough (as cool as a newly washed cucumber) to buy Goa honeymoon packages. He knew that I have a strange fascination for the sea and so he was discreet in opting for Goa as our honeymoon place. It’s another matter that I soon discovered that he too, secretly, had always desired to visit this charming destination.
Well, enough of my ramblings. I am running out of words and I need to blurt out quick details about the 3 best places to visit in Goa. Though, each person will have his or her own favorite, here are my top 3:
The town of Anjuna is extremely charming and has got my favorite thing in the world- beach! Lol, Goa is full of beaches and everywhere you go you shall find the sea in sight. So, that is not the only reason why Anjuna features in my top three. It has the best flea market in the state. And since I love shopping (I mean, being a young Indian woman, I feel that it’s my birth right, ain’t it), this weekly market still gives me goose bumps whenever I pluck at my precious memories. Held on Wednesdays, Anjuna Market serves you over 500 stalls and covers almost every kind of commodity from fruits to dresses to mobile phones to cool coconut juice.
2. Old Goa:
I thought I wouldn’t like this place since I am not much into history and heritage. But the beauty of this place cannot be described through my mortal words. My pen is galloping at top speed but it fails to vent my true admiration for Old Goa, a serene corner with some of the most imposing old churches in Asia. Basilica of Bom Jesus is my personal favorite and is the most popular attraction of this region.
3. Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary:
If you ever come to my home for a Sunday brunch or a Tuesday supper, you shall either find me in the kitchen or sitting before the couch glued to Animal Planet. I love wildlife and that’s why I would say that Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary is amongst the best places to visit in Goa. It has a good stock of animals, reptiles and birds. You will love being here. Alternatively, you can also head to Cotigao sanctuary or Salim Ali Bird Park.
